Description
Painted in many colors, designs, and sizes, there are 75 designs to choose from! Most of these designs have been inspired by Sri Lankan art styles from the 15th through early 19th centuries during the time when the monarchy of Sri Lanka was established in the picturesque and mountainous city of Kandy located in the central province of Sri Lanka. The Kingdom of Kandy was the last independent monarchy to rule Sri Lanka before the British invaded in the early 19th century. The kingdom of Kandy has had a significant influence on the arts and culture of Sri Lanka, and its artistic style has been admired very much by many as it is both unique and timeless.
We have categorized our painted décor plates primarily as floral, animal, and classic designs. The floral designs are mostly centered around a lotus motif, as lotus flowers are very popular and widely available in many colors and hold a religious significance in Sri Lanka. Lotus flowers are commonly symbolized as a sign of purity, strength, and divinity. The animal designs are influenced by animals holding a cultural and religious significance in Sri Lanka. Some animal designs may seem mystical as they were designed to portray certain personality traits and cultural/religious aspects. For instance, these animal designs portray strength, bravery, purity, honesty, intelligence, and charm. Under each décor plate, you can find more information on which traits each of these animals represent. Finally, the third category of classic designs is influenced by different aspects of Sri Lankan culture and tradition and covers art of many time periods and designs ranging from wildlife to modern art.
We hope you will take the time to admire each of our designs as they have been painted very intricately with much attention to give a glimpse of the grandeur of the vibrant history of Sri Lanka.
